Uganda: Gorillas, Community & Pearl of Africa

Some places stay with you. Uganda is one of them. Ancient forests, extraordinary wildlife, and communities whose warmth and resilience will quietly change the way you see the world.

WHY UGANDA

A land that surprises everyone who visits

Uganda is often overlooked in favor of its East African neighbors, and that’s exactly what makes it so special. Here, you trek through ancient rainforest to sit with one of the world’s last mountain gorilla families. You stand at the edge of Murchison Falls, where the entire Nile surges through a seven-meter gorge. You arrive at the Batwa village not as a tourist but as a guest, with food, with humility, and with time to simply sit together.

Mi Bella Mondo’s Uganda journeys connect you directly with the people, wildlife, and communities that make this country remarkable. We work with local suppliers and on-the-ground partners to customize every journey. We gather interest first, and when we have our collective, we finalize every detail together. This is how Collective Journeys work: you tell us you want to go, and we build it around the people who actually show up.

Whether you have always dreamed of seeing gorillas, felt drawn to meaningful travel, or want to go somewhere that will genuinely surprise you, Uganda is that place!

SAMPLE ITINERARY

11 days across Uganda's most extraordinary landscapes

Each day unfolds across Uganda’s most spectacular landscapes—from urban Kampala to the remote forests of Bwindi. Below is a brief narrative of your journey.

Arrival in Uganda and transfer to Kampala. After settling in, enjoy a welcome dinner and an introduction to the journey ahead. Night at Golden Tulip, Kampala. Welcome Dinner.

Begin the day exploring Kampala’s creative scene with visits to artist studios and cultural spaces, connecting with Uganda’s contemporary art world. Later, travel north toward Masindi, gateway to Murchison Falls National Park. Night at Kabalega Resort, Masindi.

Enter Murchison Falls National Park and visit the dramatic Top of the Falls, where the Nile River surges through a narrow gorge before crashing into the valley below. An awe-inspiring introduction to Uganda’s wild places. Night at Pakuba Safari Lodge.

An early morning game drive reveals elephants, giraffes, lions, and antelope across the savannah. In the afternoon, a boat safari along the Nile brings you close to hippos, crocodiles, and abundant birdlife along the river’s edge. Night at Pakuba Safari Lodge.

Travel through Uganda’s scenic landscapes toward Queen Elizabeth National Park, one of the country’s most diverse ecosystems. Take in the scenery as the landscape shifts from savannah to the lush equatorial south. Night at Elephant Hub Lodge, Northern Sector.

Morning wildlife viewing through the northern sector, followed by a spectacular boat safari along the Kazinga Channel, a natural waterway famous for its dense concentration of wildlife, including one of Africa’s largest hippo populations. Night at Elephant Hab Lodge.

Journey south through the park to the Ishasha sector, home to the rare tree-climbing lions often seen resting in the branches of giant fig trees. This behavior, found in only two places on earth, makes Ishasha one of Uganda’s most unique wildlife destinations. Night at Enjojo Lodge.

Travel through the beautiful highlands of southwestern Uganda to Rushaga, at the edge of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. In the afternoon, a community visit and cultural exchange with Batwa families — an authentic connection with the people who have called this region home for generations. Night at Nshongi Camp.

Today’s experience is unforgettable. Trek through Bwindi’s ancient rainforest in search of a mountain gorilla family and spend a powerful hour observing these remarkable primates in their natural habitat. With only approximately 1,000 mountain gorillas remaining in the wild, this encounter is among the most profound in wildlife travel. Night at Nshongi Camp.

Today is yours to choose. Spend your final morning with the Batwa community,  one of Uganda’s most ancient peoples, sharing food and sitting together in a way that words rarely can. Or let the day unfold gently at Lake Mutanda and Kisoro Art Island, where volcanic mountains meet still water and local creativity brings the journey full circle. Both are beautiful ways to close this chapter.

Travel back to Entebbe for international departures.
