Frequently Asked Questions

Tour Groups & Guides

Group Size: How Many Participants Will Be on My Tour?

Small groups enhance your experience. Our Collective Journeys have between 6 and 16 participants, depending on the destination.  The minimum and maximum are listed on each trip page. Smaller groups allow us to visit hidden gems and engage in activities inaccessible to larger tours.

Our tours are led by a dedicated Tour Manager who ensures everything runs smoothly. You will also have an Expert Tour Leader or Local Guide responsible for your daily experiences. The Tour Manager and Guide may sometimes be the same person, but they are usually distinct roles. We also work with local specialists,  culinary experts, cultural historians, artists, and artisans, ensuring each experience feels enriching and authentic.

Our tours bring together curious and open-minded travelers from all walks of life. Whether traveling solo, with a partner, or with friends, you will be part of a welcoming group that shares a love for discovery and connection. An adult must accompany travelers under 18. While there is no upper age limit, some trips may involve walking or light hiking.

Our tours are not fully wheelchair accessible, but we are working to offer more accessible experiences. Please reach out with specific needs and we will guide you on the best way forward.

Mi Bella Mondo welcomes everyone with open arms. We are committed to an inclusive and supportive environment for all travelers, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation. We respect local customs and laws but strive to ensure every traveler feels safe and respected. If you encounter inappropriate behavior, please inform Cristy immediately.

All participants agree to uphold the values of respect, empathy, and cultural sensitivity. This means respecting cultural diversity and local customs, avoiding offensive language or behavior, and engaging with open-mindedness. Mi Bella Mondo has zero tolerance for discrimination, harassment, or intimidation of any kind.

Mi Bella Mondo reserves the right to remove any participant from the tour without refund for behavior, including bullying, harassment, substance abuse, or refusal to follow safety protocols. Participants removed from the tour are responsible for all resulting expenses, including transportation and lodging.

Daily Activities & Logistics

Packing Guide: What Kind of Luggage Should I Bring?

We suggest packing light, practical luggage that you can easily carry alone. Our tours often involve walking and switching between different modes of transport. We recommend a small rolling suitcase or a sturdy backpack.

If you plan to arrive before your tour begins or stay longer, we will send you hotel information about 60 days before departure. You can then book extra nights directly with the hotel.

Yes! Many travelers join solo, and our tours are perfect for connecting with like-minded individuals. Solo travelers consistently discover a welcoming environment and lasting friendships.

When you book a tour, you will be placed in a shared room. If you book solo, we will pair you with a fellow traveler of the same gender. If you would like to be paired with a friend or partner, just let us know in advance. For any special rooming preferences, including gender identity concerns, please reach out and we will work to ensure your comfort.

Yes. A private room is available for an additional single supplement fee, subject to availability, on a first-come, first-served basis. You can select this option at checkout. Please note that in some cases a “private” room may consist of two single beds pushed together. The single supplement amount is listed on each tour page.

International airfare is not included in the tour price. We provide detailed information about which airports to fly into and out of, and your traveler packet includes recommended airlines and routing. Some tours include domestic or internal flights — this is always clearly stated on the tour page.

Yes. You will receive your full traveler packet — including accommodation details, packing tips, local currency guidance, and WhatsApp group information — 30 to 60 days before departure.

Yes. The name on your booking must match your passport exactly. Corrections after booking may incur additional fees, so please double-check all details when registering.

Of course. We believe in allowing you to explore in a way that feels right for you. If there’s an activity you’d prefer to skip, you’ll have the option to enjoy free time or explore independently. Your guide will always be available with recommendations.

Every tour includes personal time to recharge and explore at your own pace — discovering a café, wandering the streets, or soaking in the atmosphere. The amount of free time varies by destination but is always built into the schedule.

Not at all. We strike a balance between group activities and personal freedom. While we encourage camaraderie and shared experiences, there’s no pressure to socialize non-stop. This is your experience, and we respect your need for both adventure and solitude.

Many of our tours involve 2–3 hours of walking per day to fully immerse you in the destination. Walks are generally not strenuous. If a tour includes a hike, this is noted in the itinerary details. If you have mobility concerns, contact us before booking.

We strive to adhere to the planned itinerary, but travel can be unpredictable — weather, traffic, or unexpected opportunities may require minor adjustments. Your guide will communicate any changes and ensure everything remains as rewarding as possible.

Tipping guidelines are provided for each destination in the individual traveler packets. While we cover tips wherever possible, there will be moments where you can decide based on the service you received. Your guide will also share local tipping customs at the welcome meeting.

Sustainability is important to us. We offer the option to contribute toward carbon offsets during the booking process. When possible, we recycle, encourage reusable water bottles, and avoid activities that harm the environment or do not benefit local communities. Any animal activity included in a tour is ethical and supported by reputable organizations that prioritize animal welfare.

Health and Safety

I Have a Food Allergy. How Can I Make Sure I'm Accommodated?

Please inform us of any food allergies or dietary restrictions at the time of booking. We will ensure that our local partners and restaurants are aware of your needs. Please note that complete satisfaction cannot be guaranteed across all international destinations.

Yes,  travel insurance is mandatory for all Mi Bella Mondo tours. No exceptions.

Your policy must cover, at a minimum, trip cancellation/interruption ($5,000+), emergency medical expenses ($100,000+), emergency medical evacuation and repatriation ($250,000+), and COVID-19 coverage. Proof of insurance must be submitted to connect@mibellamondo.com no later than 90 days before departure — the same deadline as your final payment. Any traveler who arrives without valid insurance will be denied participation with no refund issued.

We recommend Faye Travel Insurance for comprehensive, traveler-friendly coverage. You are free to choose any licensed provider that meets the minimum requirements.

Some countries require vaccinations for entry; for example, most African countries require proof of Yellow Fever vaccination. Destination-specific health requirements are always included in your traveler packet. We recommend consulting a travel health clinic at least 4–8 weeks before departure.

Our tours are open to all travelers and we monitor evolving health regulations. If new requirements arise, we will update you promptly. You are responsible for the cost of any required testing.

If you test positive during the trip, we ask that you self-isolate to protect the group. You will need to arrange accommodation at your own expense. Since travel insurance is mandatory, your policy should cover these additional costs.

Logistics and Payment

Passport Requirements: What You Need to Know

Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond the end of your tour date and have at least two blank pages for entry stamps. The name on your booking must match your passport exactly. Check your expiration date well in advance.

We request a copy of your passport to expedite hotel check-ins and, where applicable, to book internal flights included in the tour. Keeping your details on file allows the hotel to check you in smoothly upon arrival. This information is handled securely and deleted after your tour.

Visa requirements vary by destination and nationality. Destination-specific visa information is always included in your traveler packet and on the tour page. Mi Bella Mondo does not assist with visa applications. Failure to obtain the required visa may result in your inability to join the tour; in such cases, no refund will be issued.

Yes. All participants are required to sign a liability waiver as part of the booking process. This waiver is included with your registration documents and must be completed when you submit your deposit. Your reservation is not considered confirmed until the signed waiver is received.

We recommend using an ATM at your destination for the best exchange rates and minimal hassle. Check with your home bank regarding foreign transaction fees in advance. If ATMs are not available, consider bringing U.S. dollars or local currency to exchange at local money exchange booths or banks.

No payment is collected during the interest phase. Once you receive a Trip Confirmation Notice, a deposit of 25% of the total tour cost is required within 14 days to secure your spot. The deposit is non-refundable after the 14-day window but may be applied as a travel credit toward a future MBM journey within 12 months.

Yes. Flexible payment plan options may be available depending on your trip timeline. Please contact us at connect@mibellamondo.com to discuss options after you receive your Trip Confirmation Notice. Final payment is always due 90 days before departure.

Yes. All prices on our website and tour pages are listed in U.S. dollars (USD).

Each destination has a minimum number of travelers required, listed on the trip page. Once the minimum is confirmed and a departure date is agreed upon, MBM will send a Trip Confirmation Notice. You will then have 14 days to pay your 25% deposit and officially secure your spot. If the minimum is not reached before the planned departure, MBM will propose a revised departure date rather than cancel the trip. You will be the first to know. Final payment and proof of travel insurance are both due 90 days before departure.

Cancellation and refund terms are tied to the date your deposit is paid. For the full cancellation schedule, please refer to the Booking Terms & Conditions at mibellamondo.com/booking-tc/. In summary, within 14 days of deposit AND more than 91 days before departure, a full refund minus processing fees. Between 90 and 61 days before departure, there is a 50% refund on the balance paid; the deposit may be applied as credit. Within 60 days of departure, no refund.

If MBM cancels a tour due to low enrollment or operational concerns, you may choose one of the following:

  • A full refund of all amounts paid; or
  • A 100% travel credit plus a $250 bonus credit, valid for 12 months from the issue date.

If MBM postpones a tour, you will be notified in writing and must confirm your decision within 10 calendar days. You may choose a full refund or transfer to a future tour. If no response is received within 10 days, your booking will automatically be credited toward a future tour.

Note: MBM is not liable for airfare, visas, or personal expenses you have independently incurred.

Deposits may be applied as a travel credit toward a future MBM journey within 12 months of the original tour date, subject to a $100 rebooking fee. Please contact us at connect@mibellamondo.com if you have a special circumstance, and we will review your situation.

Unfortunately, we cannot offer a refund for the price difference if the tour price decreases after you have booked.

We can only apply one discount or promotional code per booking. Choose the best option available to you.

Yes. Your payments are protected by the California Travel Consumer Restitution Fund (TCRF). Eligible California passengers may file a claim for refunds exceeding $50, up to a maximum of $15,000 per passenger. For full details, see our Seller of Travel Disclosure.

By participating in a Mi Bella Mondo tour, you grant MBM a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual license to use photographs, video, and other media captured during the tour for marketing and promotional purposes.
