Voices from the Pearl

These are the voices of Rubuguri as lived experience.

This collection brings together the stories of women building livelihoods, fathers carrying responsibility and hope, reformed poachers choosing new paths, Batwa families preserving identity while navigating change, and children growing up within a community shaped by both challenge and possibility. Each voice speaks from a different place, yet all are rooted in the same land and the same future.

Some stories are quiet. Others are marked by struggle, resilience, or transformation. Together, they reveal what progress looks like when it is human—when people are heard, supported, and given space to shape their own lives.

A Father's Voice
Voices from the Pearl is not a single narrative. It is a chorus. A reminder that lasting impact comes not from speaking for communities, but from listening to them!

Keepers of culture, community, and change!

The story of the Batawa people displaced from ancestral forest lands refuses to be defined by what was taken, choosing instead to build what remains!
